Me and Ned ⸻

Along with all my other titles I am a shepherdess of a small flock of sheep. I love being outdoors with my dog Ned whatever the weather, Its always a case of a good choice of clothing rather than bad weather. Being outdoors is good for our mental health, its an escape from a busy mind and a busy life. When I am outside, I submerge myself in nature and its soothing sounds.

Made with love ⸻
For the love of wellies...

How it all began…

Back in 2021 my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and I just couldn’t deal with it. I didn’t want to have to deal with it! So while my sister, and other friends, took our mum for her appointments and treatments I threw myself into raising money for charity as that I could do. In December of that year I did 31 challenges, one for every day of the month. From coldwater swimming, travelling on the World’s fastest zipline, milking cows, cycling 31 miles (I don’t even own my own bike!) and many more. Along with some fabulous very brave friends, we did a naked “Calender Girls” calender just in our wellies. We all are outdoor type girls who spend our days in our wellies, so this was a no brainer. It was called “For the Love of Wellies”. We sold over 500 and along with the money raised from the challenges we managed to raise a fabulous £13,000 which was split between Macmillan and The Well for Wellbeing which offers Theraputic Care and Beauty Care for patients in our local area.

Whilst selling the calendars a few people asked if they could buy the t-shirts that we had made. We didn’t really want to do that at the time but that gave me the idea.

After all that excitement had died down I wanted to take the brand further so as I work outside most of the time I started looking at clothing that was durable, warm and comfortable. I did a lot of research and threw samples at many friends to test them out so I feel I now have a range of really good quality clothing.

The “welly” logo for me, represents being outdoors which is so good for our mental health. Whenever I feel like my mind is too busy or I need a break for all my chores, I get Ned’s lead and off we go. Heading off out into our lovely Yorkshire countryside that I so love and never take for granted, breathing in that fresh air and listening to nature just makes me smile. Even if you live in a busy town you can find your peace somewhere.

Getting myself a brand has been a challenge. I am just a generally busy person, always planning things. I have done a lot to help in our local village from raising funds for charity to organising funds for our village Christmas Tree on top of having a part time job, working with my sheep and running our caravan site so actually getting down to getting myself out there has been a hard process for me. Having great friends around me has been so humbling, offering their advice, rolling up their sleeves to help and basically making me believe in myself.

The next step….well here it is. A website! I would never have believed in a million years I would have my very own website where I can sell the products that I love so much. With my lovely welly logo, locally embroidered on the garments and not to forget the lovely heart that my lovely friend does on all her birthday cards she sends as a hug and a kiss all in one. So now I have a platform where I can share my story, tell people about the markets and shows I will be attending where you will be able to come and have a natter, share your story with me and hopefully go home with something lovely.

I look forward to meeting you
